Responsive Web Design is the ability to have your website render properly on any device. It ensures a good viewing experience for all users whether they are using a PC, tablet or mobile device. One of the reasons Responsive Web Design has become imperative is because mobile traffic now accounts for more than half of all Internet traffic. Because of this massive trend, Google announced Mobilegeddon in 2015. This name was coined by webmasters and developers for google’s algorithm update in April 2015. This update gives priority to websites that are mobile friendly and display well across all mobile devices and smart phones.

Because of this update a large decrease in non-mobile friendly URLs on the first three pages of Google are being seen. Loss of mobile search rankings can equate to a loss of revenue. This is why it is imperative to make sure your website is responsive and protect your crucial rankings.

So essentially, Responsive Web Design is simply responding to the size of the browser, window or device with customized code.

The primary goal of Responsive Web Design is for your one website to look amazing on large desktop monitors as well as across all smart phones and mobile devices.
